Tuesdays in Thomas | What it’s like to live in Thomas West Virginia

Personal

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ur little small town USA is one of the best ever. West Virginia is by far the best state… go Mountaineers!! But Tucker county is even better. I consider it such a blessing to live in a tiny town where everyone knows everyone.  Neighbors help each other out, we support our small businesses and truly have a community that is more like a big family.

Tucker County is such a unique place. I remember being in high school and hearing several of my teachers talk about how great it is to call this place home. Not only are we able to enjoy thousands of acres of the gorgeous Appalachian mountains, but the company of each other too. When Thomas’s dad passed away unexpectedly five years ago, we had the support of a great big community behind us. I remember thinking in those first very hard days how blessed we were to call Tucker home.

If you’re wanting to escape from the fast paced, city life, the little town of Thomas, West Virginia is definitely the place for you. From our unique shops, to the state parks and great restaurants, I’m so glad to call it home.

Here are 3 of my top favorites about living in Thomas:

  1. We have no Walmart, Target or Chick-Fil-A
That’s right- the nearest Walmart is about 30-40 minutes away in Oakland, Maryland. And while sometimes I wish I could go to Target and Chick-Fil-A on a daily basis, we consider it quite the treat when we make the hour and a half trip to Morgantown or Clarksburg. So if that doesn’t give you an idea of how small our town is, I’m not sure what will 😉
  2. Great Places to Eat and Shop
I absolutely love going to Tip Top for hot chocolate and super good breakfast pastries (or if you’re a coffee lover-I’ve heard it’s hard to beat) Stroll down the street for lunch at Farm Up Table, browse the many antique and art shops and get yourself a Macy Lou’s Gourmet Apple for dessert! In our sister town, Davis/Canaan Valley, there are plenty of other places to eat and explore too. Sirianni’s is a top favorite for pizza, as well as Canaan Valley BBQ, and Wicked Wilderness Pub & Parlor– they have amazing burgers and fries!!!
  3. The best Hiking Spots in the state of West Virginia
I may be a little biased, but some of the most beautiful views in West Virginia. One of my favorite hiking spots is in Blackwater Falls State Park and is pretty popular- Lindy Point. It is beautiful in any season! My favorite is probably summer… I love all the gorgeous greens!

I’m passionate about our little neck of the woods… almost Heaven West Virginia. It’s truly one of the best places to live. So grateful for our home in Thomas!

xoxo,
Zoe

AN EAST COAST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

At my core, I’m a family girl, and that’s exactly why I photograph weddings the way I do.

You’re not just hiring me for beautiful portraits. You’re inviting me into one of the most sacred days of your life. I pay attention to the in-between moments - the way your dad squeezes your hand before walking you down the aisle, the quiet breath you take before the doors open, the way your grandmother watches you with pride.

I serve with intention and protect your peace, creating space for you to be fully present while I document your story in an artful, effortless way. Because when you trust me completely, you don’t just pose for the day, you live it. And that’s when yout images become timeless.

And I can't wait to get to know you!
