Some weddings just feel like a deep breath and Jessica and Brandon’s day at The Ellis House was exactly that. This was my first time photographing a wedding at this venue, and it truly took my breath away. With timeless architecture, quiet corners, and elegant backdrops, The Ellis House was full of details to create the perfect atmosphere for their tender, joy-filled day.
From the moment I arrived, I could tell this wedding would reflect the couple’s gentle personalities. Jessica and Brandon are both introverted, thoughtful, and incredibly kind. Their wedding was personal, intentional, and beautifully calm from start to finish.
The morning began with stunning flat lays, some of my favorite detail shots I’ve captured to date. Their invitation suite, rings, and accessories reflected the natural and neutral tones of their wedding day palette: soft greens, creamy whites, and subtle fall textures. It was elegant and organic in every way.
Getting ready with the girls and guys was relaxed and fun. Both sides of the wedding party were organized, easy-going, and genuinely excited to celebrate Jessica and Brandon. They kept things moving and made the day feel effortless.

First, one of the most touching moments of the day was their first look. Brandon was overcome with emotion the moment he saw Jessica, and the joy on both their faces lit up the entire moment. Not long after, they brought in a very important guest… their sweet dog Millie. Brandon even teared up when he saw her.
They incorporated Millie throughout the day in such a seamless and elegant way. Even their bar menu featured signature drinks inspired by her. It was thoughtful, sentimental and perfectly understated.
Second, was Jessica and Brandon handed out film-style point-and-shoot cameras to a few guests and even to my second photographer. It added a nostalgic, candid element to their wedding and made the day feel extra interactive.

We had plenty of time for portraits, which made for such a calm and enjoyable flow. The ceremony space was styled with elegant florals, which I absolutely loved! Jessica and Brandon were married by a family friend in a short, heartfelt ceremony. Every interaction between them felt genuine and warm.

Next, they did a private first look, so they could enjoy cocktail hour with their guests. Everyone enjoyed playing yard games and sipping drinks. It made for such fun photos and gave them time to soak in the moment.
The reception details were jaw-dropping. Jessica and Brandon (and their families!) DIY-ed so many elements, and yet everything looked like it had been professionally styled. From florals to tablescapes, it was beautifully curated.
Next, instead of a grand entrance, they chose a soft, subtle entry into their reception, again, true to their personalities. Their first dance and parent dances were sweet and meaningful. Another memorable moment was the live watercolor artist creating custom portraits of the guests. A unique and elegant experience that added such a personal touch to the celebration!

We snuck away for sunset portraits after the ceremony, and it was honestly magic. The lighting, the location, the way they looked at each other… I could’ve photographed them for hours. The colors of the day (those creamy neutrals and greens) perfectly matched the soft, early fall setting.
They ended the day with a joyful celebration surrounded by their closest people. Jessica and Brandon were exactly where they wanted to be: present, content, and surrounded by love.

This day was a dream to document. I feel so lucky to have been part of it! Scroll down to see the rest of their beautiful day! Congratulations, Jessica and Brandon! May God richly bless your marriage.
