Nestled in the vibrant hills of Beckley, West Virginia, Athena Estate & Vineyard provided the perfect setting for Emily and Tommy’s emotional, joy-filled fall wedding day. This intimate celebration was a true reflection of who they are: kind, thoughtful, family-oriented, and deeply in love.
From the moment Emily reached out, it was clear how important photography was to her. After experiencing the loss of her father, capturing moments became even more sacred. That connection laid the foundation for a truly meaningful experience together, not just on the wedding day, but throughout the entire planning process.
The day began with gorgeous detail shots, capturing sentimental pieces and the fall-inspired aesthetic that reflected the season and the couple’s warmth. Emily’s bridesmaids and family were hands-on and incredibly helpful, every detail was crafted with care.
One of the most touching moments of the day was Tommy’s first look…not just with Emily, but with his daughter. Emily surprised him by sending her first, and the emotion on his face was unforgettable.

Following that, Emily and Tommy had their own private first look, exchanging heartfelt vows and meaningful gifts. Their intentionality and love were on full display. Their two beloved pups also made an appearance during portraits, adding a personal and fun touch to their gallery.

Officiated by a close friend, their outdoor ceremony was both emotional and joyful. Emily honored her father beautifully, and her mom walking her down the aisle was a moment that brought tears to many eyes. Emily and Tommy’s vows and glowing smiles made it clear, this love was genuine, deep, and long-awaited.
Family portraits followed, including their children Jax and Everly, making the images even more special. One of Emily’s requests was to have portraits in the trees during peak fall color, and we were thrilled to deliver exactly that- golden light, vibrant foliage, and romantic forest vibes.

Their reception was held under a stunning tree draped with Spanish moss and twinkle lights. An outdoor dream setting that glowed with golden hour light and celebration. From the heartfelt speeches to the custom details, every part of the evening felt relaxed, joyful, and full of love.
Later, we snuck away for glowy sunset portraits… some of the most beautiful images of the day. You could feel the tenderness and gratitude in each shot. As the sun dipped below the mountain, Emily and Tommy shared a moment beneath the lights, just soaking in the magic of it all.
As if the evening couldn’t get sweeter, it was time for the ice cream truck to open up! A favorite of the couple’s and a hit with guests. (Seriously, some of the best ice cream we’ve ever had!)

Emily and Tommy ended their night with some fun sparklers shots, surrounded by their bridal party under the stars. It was the perfect ending to a wedding that was personal, joyful, and filled with intentional moments.
It was such a joy and an honor to photograph your wedding day— thank you, Emily and Tommy, for trusting me to capture these once-in-a-lifetime memories. I’ll cherish being part of your love story forever!
xoxo,
Zoe
