There are some engagement sessions that leave you feeling creatively refreshed all over again, and this was absolutely one of them.
When my friend Jessica from Aster & Bee Floral and I started dreaming up another collaboration together, we knew we wanted to create something intentional, romantic, and spring-inspired. We’ve collaborated on a giveaway before (shoutout to one of our all-time favorite couples, Abigail and Jace!), and after seeing how meaningful that experience was, we decided to do it again.
After reading through dozens of applications, Sarah and Brody’s story immediately stood out to us.
And once we met Sarah and Brody in person, we knew we had picked the perfect couple.

Sarah and Brody met at West Virginia University while marching in the drumline together. He played quads, she played cymbals, and somewhere between practices, football games, and long band days, they built a relationship rooted in genuine friendship.
One of my favorite things about Sarah and Brody was how easy they were together. You could instantly tell that they truly enjoy each other’s company. They laughed constantly, encouraged one another naturally, and just had this calm, steady kind of love that made photographing them feel effortless.
Their story includes unforgettable memories like marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade together, navigating college life side by side, and now doing a little bit of long distance while planning their future together.
Sarah is currently in Morgantown, West Virginia, while Brody is in Northern Virginia pursuing his music career, but through every season, she shared that he has always felt like “home” to her.
Honestly… cue the tears.

For this engagement session, we wanted the overall vision to feel soft, romantic, floral-filled, and timeless.
Jessica absolutely knocked the design out of the park.
We created a mood board inspired by spring garden colors and elegant picnic details, and every single element came together beautifully. From the lush florals and woven baskets to the patterned blanket and delicate macarons, everything felt intentional without feeling overly styled.
The florals by Aster & Bee Floral were genuinely some of the prettiest spring arrangements I’ve ever photographed. They paired so perfectly with Sarah’s dress and the overall romantic feel of the evening.
Soft pinks, creamy whites, fresh greenery, and textured blooms created such a romantic atmosphere for Sarah and Brody’s engagement photos.
We also collaborated with a local macaron artist to add another thoughtful detail to the setup, which tied the entire vision together perfectly.

This beautiful engagement session took place at Mayhurst Estate, and it truly could not have been a more perfect setting.
The property offers such a timeless, elegant backdrop for engagement photos in Orange, Virginia. Between the estate grounds, open outdoor spaces, and peaceful atmosphere, every corner was photographed beautifully.
Casey the owner of Mayhurst Estate team was incredibly accommodating throughout the entire evening, and I’m so thankful for her hospitality.
If you’re searching for a romantic Virginia engagement session location or a venue that feels both elegant and welcoming, Mayhurst Estate is absolutely worth considering.
One of the sweetest details from this engagement session was Sarah’s dress.
Her family owns Queen’s Choice in Morgantown, West Virginia, which made styling this session even more personal and meaningful. She had access to so many beautiful options and fully trusted our creative vision, which made the collaboration process so seamless and fun.
I always tell couples that the best engagement sessions happen when they feel like an extension of your real relationship, and this session reflected Sarah and Brody so well.
Romantic. Joyful. Intentional. Comfortable. Completely them.

This evening honestly came at the perfect time for me creatively.
As wedding season approaches, sessions like this remind me why I love what I do so much. Getting to collaborate with talented local creatives, serve kind couples, and create something beautiful together is such a gift.
I left this engagement session feeling inspired all over again.
And after spending the evening with Sarah and Brody, I truly cannot wait to watch their relationship continue to flourish. We’re secretly hoping we get to photograph their wedding next spring because I already know it would be absolutely beautiful.
