Tuesdays in Thomas | Buying Our Home

Personal

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his post has been in the works for a LONG time!! Warning: it’s a long one!

Our search for the perfect first home actually started about this time last year, when we saw that some friends of ours were moving. I immediately jumped on the opportunity and told Thomas we had to buy this house. We toured it and again, I felt like God was saying “this is it”.

After that, we worked out an agreement to purchase the home. We were so excited. It was in the perfect location- about the same distance from our parents’ homes, with the privacy I wanted and the convenience of being in “town”.

Because of everyone’s great friend COVID, the purchasing process was truly a nightmare. There were so many roadblocks and so much time that we had to spend just waiting. Every week I found myself becoming more and more frustrated because we just wanted to buy the house!

Finally, the day came for us to officially sign papers after months of waiting!! We were never more relieved. We’ve loved this little home ever since. God is so faithful, even through those dark days, I can’t wait to do more projects and make this place our forever home. Enjoy these before and after pictures for now 🙂

I love looking at the progress we’ve made!! Next year’s projects are going to be working on the outside.

Progress!! So many great memories togther!

The living room after some paint, a pretty rug and some lovely hints of blues! It’s one of my favorite places to hangout.

Recognize this braided cross from anywhere? I’ll never forget giggling so much at Thomas while he tried to help me braid it during the ceremony. Also, all the pretty pictures fill our tiny home!! Katelyn Workman Photography is the best 🙂

Our dining room set was the same table I ate supper at for the first 10 years of my life. My dad and Gray really transformed the table and chairs to match my vision.

We haven’t made much of a transformation to the kitchen, but I have big plans for it. Someone please help me convince Thomas to get new white cabinets when we add on!!

Our house is super tiny, so we’ve tried to make the most out of every space. I bought this little trash can cabinet for super cheap and stained it the same color of our dining room table!

The laundry room was super orange! Can you spot it in the before pictures? It was my favorite little space to brighten up.

So many wedding pictures!! I love our room. It’s so cozy!

My office is still a work in progress! It probably will be a while before it’s finished 😉

Here’s the outside yesterday morning. Fall decor will come down soon enough and soon we will be putting up Christmas!!! Can’t wait for the new projects we have planned for next spring for the outside!

Fun facts:
1. We painted almost the entire house the same gray color! It brightened up the space and made for more of a cohesive look. I used different accent colors, but overall really like having a neutral and clean look throughout.

2. A lot of our home decor was re-purposed and really affordable.

3. I learned that Thomas was a really great painter and that I was super bad at trim work! We are so grateful to our family for helping us move and update the house!! The Lord is so good.
