How to choose your wedding venue can seem like a big, scary task, but it doesn’t have to be! I’m back this week with some tips for choosing the perfect venue. There are so many things you want to consider when looking for the perfect place to say I do. I’ve narrowed it down to five tips that I think are most important. Let’s dive in!

  1. Budget
This may seem obvious, but before you fall in love with your dream venue, you need to set a budget. Most venues send a brochure or have their pricing guides accessible on their websites when a couple inquires. This can help you narrow your search tremendously. When you determine your budget for the venue, start setting up tours with your top favorites that have availability.
  2. Don’t Marry a Date
This may sound funny, but I always suggest that couples tour their dream venues (in budget of course) before deciding on a date. If you are more flexible with choosing a season rather than a date, you will find more venues in your search.
  3. The Tour
Things to think about when touring venues are things like: locations for ceremony, parking, capacity, guest accommodations, in-house catering, additional costs for cleanup, etc. Ask all the questions. My favorite venues are great at showing couples up front what is included in the venue price! It is so important to know what you are getting for the cost.
  4. Read Reviews
Reviews are the best way to know what kind of experience a venue offers. Take note of the venue’s reviews listed on Google and their social media. Ask friends or trusted wedding vendors their take on things. Your wedding planner will have all the recommendations when it comes to choosing the best venue!
  5. Preferred Vendors
Venues have preferred vendor lists for a reason. Hiring trusted professionals are a must to have the best wedding experience. Ask your venue if you have to use their preferred vendors or if you can choose your own. Some venues have additional fees for using outside catering, photographers or planners-so this should be one of your big questions to ask when touring!

Overall, choosing your venue should be a fun experience. I know that several couples can quickly become overwhelmed with the wedding planning process. My best advice is to remember the reason you are getting married! It should always come down to that. Determine what theme you picture for your wedding day and then go from there. Choosing your wedding venue doesn’t have to be hard, you can do it! Ask your wedding planner for some help 😉 Stay tuned for more tips!
