First off—Congratulations! If you got engaged over the holidays (or are hoping for a v-day proposal), you’re stepping into one of the most exciting seasons of your life. Planning a wedding can feel overwhelming, but don’t worry—I’ve got you covered! As a wedding photographer, I’ve worked with so many couples, and one of the biggest things I hear is, “Where do we even start?” So, here’s your simple wedding planning timeline to help you stay on track.

12-18 Months Out: Book the Big Vendors

Once you set a date, book your venue first, then lock in high-priority vendors like your photographer, planner, and videographer. I cannot stress the importance of booking your wedding planner! You’ve probably been following several dream vendors if you’ve anticipated your engagement. Do not wait to contact them! If you’re dreaming of light & airy wedding photography that feels elevated yet effortless, now is the time to reach out!

10-12 Months Out: Details Start Coming Together

This is when you’ll want to book hair & makeup, florals, catering, and start dress shopping. It’s also a great time for your engagement session (because trust me, you’ll want those photos for your save-the-dates!). One of my favorite places for your engagement session is your venue! One of my couples for this summer is getting married at Hotel Morgan. We opted for their session here so we could go through some details for the wedding and of course, it is beautiful!

6-9 Months Out: Invitations & Final Vendors

Your invitations go out, and you’ll finalize rentals, cake, and any entertainment.

3-6 Months Out: The Final Touches

By now, it’s all about fine-tuning details, planning your timeline, and making sure everything is in place for your big day!
