Perhaps one of the most daunting tasks while wedding planning is deciding on the perfect wedding photographer. Choosing the right people to help make your day run as smooth as possible is KEY. It can feel overwhelming at first, but here are a few helpful tips to find your perfect fit!

Personality is EVERYTHING

Believe it or not, you spend more time with your photographer than your spouse on your wedding day. Yep, you heard that right! First and foremost, it’s so important that your personalities mesh well. When searching for your photographer, ask to talk on the phone or schedule a zoom call if you can’t meet up in person. We’ve become so accustomed to email and text that it’s hard to figure out who someone really is. It’s key to connect on a personal level! My booking process is simple. As soon as you inquire, we set up a time to talk out all the details so we can connect personally, first.

Are they going to serve you well?

Ask your potential wedding photographer questions that will show you their service. Posing style is important. How they make you feel is important! Look for some behind the scenes clips of them in action at a wedding. You need to know how you’re going to feel in front of their camera! The number one thing that I want for my couples is to make them feel even more in love and served well. I will go above and beyond to make sure the dress is fluffed perfectly, your hair is in the right place and your smiles are genuine. Anything to make your day run even more smoothly! I want to tell your love story best. When you look back on your photos, you want to remember all the good stuff!

Before any bride inquires, she can browse my portfolio. Some of best work from weddings and engagement sessions live there! Make sure to look for a consistent style between weddings. You want to be able to envision yourself in their photos. I’m a light and airy, natural light photographer, with a timeless edit. If a bride is looking for more on the dark and moody side, we may not be the best fit. Think about what you want! Portfolios are a great way to narrow your search.

Communication is KEY

Upon inquiring, you can expect a response from me in one business day. (Usually just a few hours) Every photographer is different. Up front, you should know how long it takes for your photographer to get back to you! If you’ve contacted several and some take a lot longer to respond to your initial inquiry, that may be a red flag. I make every client a priority and am sure they’ll know when to expect a response from me. Communication should be simple and easy for you!

Ask about their Workflow

How long does it take to get your photos back from your engagement session? How about the wedding? What does the album design process look like? Can your order prints right from your gallery? All of these workflow questions are important to ask your wedding photographer! It will be clearly written in your contract when to expect all you’ve agreed upon. I make it simple and easy to access your contract and proposal of services, so there aren’t any headaches or surprises!
